Admission Requirements

• die allgemeine oder fachgebundene Hochschulreife oder Fachhochschulreife gemäß § 17 Abs. 2 SächsHSG
• several years of professional dance experience
• an emerging choreographic career demonstrated through the public presentation of choreographed works

Bei besonderer künstlerischer Eignung kann gemäß § 17 Abs. 7 SächsHSG auf den Nachweis der Hochschul- oder Fachhochschulreife verzichtet werden.

[Translate to Englisch:] Der Immatrikulation geht ein Zulassungsverfahren voraus. Die gleichzeitige Zulassung für den gleichen Studiengang an mehreren Kunsthochschulen ist ausgeschlossen.

Zweck des Zulassungsverfahrens ist es, die besondere künstlerische Begabung einschließlich der dazugehörigen berufsspezifischen Anlagen und Fähigkeiten festzustellen. Das Zulassungsverfahren besteht aus einer Zugangsprüfung. An der Zugangsprüfung nimmt teil, wer die Voraussetzungen zum Studium erfüllt und eine besondere künstlerische Eignung erwarten lässt.

The audition/interview consists of:

• presenting a 5 minute solo or small group work of one’s own original choreography,
• creating a short choreographic study to a piece of music. The candidate is given an hour’s time to independently create and finally present a study and selects the music from six offerings,
• solving a choreographic problem that involves the rules of space that govern the procenium stage,
• participating in a formal interview in German language, including candidates’s articulation of specific areas of interest in dance and demonstrating general knowledge of music, visual art and theater. 

Foreign applicants

Foreign applicants need a current visa or a residence permit.

Applicants are required to submit documentation which demonstrates that they have undergone preparatory training in their country of origin which is officially recognized by the State Ministry for Science and the Fine Arts.

Students must have a sufficient knowledge of the German language.

Prior to matriculation foreign Choreography students must have successfully passed the A2 level of the standarized German language proficiency test.

The Palucca-School offers language classes that support students whose first language is not German.
