Bachelor of Arts in Dance

The degree course in Professional Dance is divided into:

 

Preparatory Programme (Orientierungsstufe)

Entry at 5th form, or 10 years of age. 

The two year preparatory programme (5th/ 6th form) is designed to prepare pupils to continue their dance education and training at secondary school level. During these two years, the physical, academic and emotional qualities that are a prerequisite for Professional Dance education and training will be tested. The Palucca Schule Dresden model integrates a  secondary school with the dance programme. The secondary school has a music profile.

 

Secondary School Programme (Nachwuchsförderklassen)

Entry at 7th form, or 12 years of age. 

The secondary school programme begins at 7th form level and lasts four years. Students obtain a secondary school degree. The Palucca Schule Dresden's educational model combines academic studies and practical dancing. The secondary school places a special emphasis on music.

The Palucca Schule Dresden's dance training at secondary school level lays the foundation for continuation at college level. Admission to the college level degree programme will be decided during the final term.

 

BA Professional Dance

Entry after high school graduation or upon completion of a secondary school programme. Entry from 16 to 20 years of age.

The three year Bachelor programme helps the students to deepen their knowledge of artistic dance. The students concentrate on interdisciplinary processes in dance, they experiment with improvisation, composition and choreography and learn about dance history, dance analysis and music theory.
