Cooperations

Tanzplan Dresden is a joint project of the Palucca Schule Dresden – College of Dance, the Dresden SemperOper Ballett, and the European Centre for the Arts HELLERAU enabeling young dancers through cooperation with experienced choreographers and a variety of workshops to get their career started.

Besides annual interdisciplinary dance productions at the semper kleine szene, the studio theatre of the Semperoper, and at the Festpielhaus Hellerau Tanzplan Dresden organizes seminars, lectures, a workshop dedicated to improvisation (ImproWinter) and an interdisciplinary summer workshop (Sommerwerkstatt).

Linking Tanzplan Dresden with other organizations in the city, local artists and international partners contributes to raising the profile of Dresden as a place for contemporary arts. As an interdisciplinary space for production and exploration for contemporary dance Tanzplan Dresden continues a tradition of experiment, innovation and change which started at the beginning of the 20th century in Dresden-Hellerau being associated with figures such as Emile Jaques-Dalcroze, Adolphe Appia, Rudolf von Laban, Mary Wigman and Gret Palucca.

Tanzplan Dresden is supported by Tanzplan Deutschland which is an initiative of the German Federal Cultural Foundation. To develop important and sustainable cooperative projects a call for ideas was initiated by Tanzplan Deutschland as part of “Tanzplan Local” which fourteen German cities contributed to. Dresden convinced the Tanzplan Deutschland jury 2005 with its interdisciplinary concept. The grant of Tanzplan Deutschland is match funded by the above mentioned organizations. Tanzplan Dresden started on August 1st in 2006.
