How do I apply to the Palucca University of Dance Dresden?

Please complete the application form for the programme you have chosen and send it to the Student Affairs Division with the required documentation.

When do the study programmes begin?

Teaching and classes start at slightly different times each year, depending on the holiday dates in the Federal State of Saxony.

New admissions to the Orientation Classes, Young Talents Program and the Bachelor of Arts – Dance take place each year at the start of the academic year (August/September). Registration for the Masters programmes in Dance Teaching and Choreography takes place every two years (in even-numbered years) at the start of the winter semester. The next admission date is the winter semester 2016/17.

What do I have to include when I submit my application form?

The application form for each study programme specifies the documents which must be submitted on application for an audition.

Is it possible to enter during the current academic year at short notice?

It is possible to enter the Orientation Classes or the Young Talents Program during the current academic year if applicants pass the entrance examination and are considered exceptionally talented.

What is the difference between audition and first selection?

At the audition, applicants are expected to demonstrate their dancing skills. The audition is an initial selection of applicants by the Palucca University, paying particular attention to anatomical and physical characteristics and coordination. After passing the suitability test, applicants are invited to the final selection. Here applicants who have completed the audition meet each other and the particular requirements for each study programme are tested. In order to be accepted on a programme, applicants must pass the final selection.

When and where do the auditions take place?

I live far away. Can I send a DVD instead of attending in person?

If necessary, the audition for the Bachelor of Arts – Dance can be replaced by a DVD or online video. The DVD has to contain ballet, modern/contemporary dance and improvisation. The final selection have to be taken in person.

I missed the audition / the entrance examination; is it possible to take a private audition?

No.

What are my chances of being accepted?

Your chance depends on your abilities. 

How do I obtain a visa for an audition?

Applicants who come from non-European countries and require a visa for the audition have to obtain the student application visa. You find more information at the German Academic Exchange Service, the Deutschen Akademischen Austauschdienst.
